Browser Detection Methods
In order to be able to display personalized offers to website users, ad networks must recognize users beyond the context of individual web pages and sessions. However, some of the methods used for identification, such as cookies, can be disabled through browser settings or browser extensions. Therefore, ad networks are looking for different ways to identify users. This study aims to provide an overview of which methods are used to track users by recognizing unique characteristics about the utilised browser and its settings, operating system, or hardware.
